If you're geeking out about this year's shuttle missions to the International Space Station too, then know that Atlantis is at the launchpad awaiting its in approximately one month to the day.
The significance, of course, is that the shuttle program has 5 important missions this year in order to complete the ISS by the time of the space shuttle's retirement in 2010. If all 5 missions are successful then the ISS has a real chance of becoming the massive research facility and "launch pad" for moon/Mars missions that it is hoped to become.
Me, I want these missions to succeed because I SO dig on the thought of the Earth having a real-life SPACE STATION orbitting up there!!! AND I want humans to go to Mars!!!
And so far the first mission is still a go!!!
So yay!

Oh, hey! It's supposed to be the coldest night of this winter tonight, with temperatures as low as 24° F tonight! So that should be fun. Hopefully by the time I go home it'll have warmed up at least to freezing, lol.
